| General Comments: | Good quality tan and silver Char X heifers all sired by Cedarlea Farms Charolais bulls. LZ Farms selects bulls based on moderate birthweights and calving ease but focuses a lot on higher YW plus attention to REA and higher marbling traits. 50% of the cow herd are F1 Hereford/Angus that were TT leptin tested (higher marbling genetic marker). LZ has finished these cattle at custom lots 3 out of the last 5 years with good results (high carcass yields and average quality grades 40-65% AAA). Tons of frame on these girls to pack on the pounds. These cattle will feed as good as many steers (finished weights over the last couple of years were 50-75# back of their brothers - same kill dates). Cattle are a little up and down and 2-3 head have short horns. |
